    1. How can I activate the product?
       You can activate the program using one of the two following ways. Use Activate Now option in the Middle panel of the Main console.
       (OR) Use Activate Now option in the Activation Reminder that pops up once you restart the PC after completing the installation. Follow the onscreen        instructions to complete the activation.
    2. How can I install K7 TotalSecurity?
       Download Version:
  • Double click K7TS_Setup.exe icon.
  • Click Next in the InstallShield Wizard.
  • Click I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click the Next button.
  • Enter your Name, Serial Number and Email address in the relevant boxes and click Next button.
  • Click Install to begin the installation
  • Click Finish to complete the installation and click Yes to restart the computer.
       CD Version:
  • Place K7 TotalSecurity CD into your CD or DVD drive.
  • Click Install K7 TotalSecurity.
  • Click Next in the InstallShield Wizard.
  • Click I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click the Next button.
  • Enter your Name, Serial Number and Email address in the relevant boxes and click Next button.

    3. How do I uninstall K7 TotalSecurity?
       Uninstallation:
      To remove K7 TotalSecurity through the Control Panel
  • Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
  • In the Control Panel, double-click the Add or Remove Programs option.
  • Select K7TotalSecurity in the Currently installed programs list and click Remove.
  • Follow the instructions on your screen to remove the software.
  • Click Finish to restart Windows.
    4. How do I configure K7 TotalSecurity to scan all files in my computer?
  • Double-click the K7 icon in the System Tray. The K7 TotalSecurity main console opens.
  • Click the AntiVirus option on the left panel of the console.
  • In the AntiVirus console, click the Configure button and then select the Scanner tab.
  • Click Settings, select All Files and click Apply.
    5. The status of the scan report says Not cleaned. What should I do?

    6. How can I block a suspicious web link?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click Anti-Spam option on the left panel of the console.
  • Click Configure button on the right panel of the console. The configure Anti-Spam dialog opens.
  • Click Security and check the option Block emails containing suspicious web links and click Apply.
    7. How do I schedule the scan task to occur automatically?
  • Double-click the K7 icon in the System Tray. The K7 TotalSecurity main console opens.
  • Click the AntiVirus option on the left panel of the console.
  • In the AntiVirus console, click the Tasks tab. The pre-defined scheduled tasks are displayed.
  • Select the task you want to schedule and click Change.
  • Click Schedule in the top panel and click the option Enable Scheduling of this task.
  • Select the appropriate options in the schedule task and choose the timing.

  • Click Apply and click Close to exit the Configure Antivirus window.
    8. How can I configure smart analysis?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the Anti-Spam option in the left panel of the console. The Anti-Spam console opens.
  • Click the Configure button on the right panel of the console.
  • Select the Smart Analysis tab in the Configure Anti-Spam Window.
  • Select the Enable Bayesian Filtering check box.
  • Use the slider to set the ratio to be used in checking the characteristic of the spam messages. The higher the ratio the more the probability of the message being spam.
  • Click Apply to save the settings.
  • Click Close to close to the Configure Anti-Spam Window.
    9. Can I scan more than one Location simultaneously?
      Yes. You can select the multiple tasks for scanning at a time.
    10. How can I allow a program if I have accidentally blocked it when I was online?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the Firewall option in the left panel of the console. The Firewall console opens.
  • Click Applications tab in the Configure Firewall window.
  • Select the application you have blocked and Click Edit.
  • Choose the relevant access option and click OK.
    11. How do I view the files that are quarantined?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the Antivirus option in the left panel of the console.
  • In the middle panel of the console, click Manage Quarantined Files.
  • The Quarantined manager window will appear in which you can view all the quarantined items.
    12. How can I block the unwanted websites?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the Privacy option on the left panel of the console. The Privacy console opens.
  • Click the Configure button and select the Users Profiles tab in the Configure Privacy dialog that opens.
  • Select the specific user from Users Present menu and click Edit
  • Click Web Filter tab and select Block site using the Blocked list option and click Save
  • Click the Web Filter option in the Customize panel of configure privacy dialog. The Web Filter window opens.
  • In the Web Filter window, select the Websites Blocked tab.
  • Enter the web site domain name you want to block and click Add. The web site is added to the list.
  • Click Close to close the Web Filter window.
    13. How can I block the unwanted advertisements?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the Privacy option on the left panel of the console. The Privacy console opens.
  • Click the Configure button and select the Users Profiles tab in the Configure Privacy window that opens.
  • Click Edit to open the User Profiles window.
  • Click Browser settings tab and enable Block Advertisements option and click Save.
    14. How can I keep a track of all the visited websites?
  • Open K7Total Security main console.
  • Click the Reports option on the top panel of the console. The Log Viewer window opens.
  • Select K7Privacy in the left pane. The K7Privacy Report appears in the right pane.
  • Click the [+] icon to expand the K7Privacy module and click Websites Visited option.
  • The list of visited Websites will be displayed in the right pane.
    15. How to check the status of the product?
  • Right Click the K7 icon in the system tray.
  • Click Status Window option.
  • The security status window will give you the status of all the features.
    16. How can I block an application from accessing the Internet?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the Firewall option in the left panel of the console. The Firewall console opens.
  • Click Applications tab in the Configure Firewall window.
  • Select the application you want to block and Click Edit.
  • Choose the relevant access option and click OK.
    17. How can I protect my personal information from being sent out?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the Privacy option on the left panel of the console. The Privacy console opens.
  • Click the Configure button to open the Configure Privacy window and then select the Privacy Info tab.
  • Click the Add button. The Privacy Information window will appear.
  • Select the category for the information you want to protect in the Type of information drop-down.
  • Enter a suitable Title for the information. This is for you to remember the information.
  • Enter the information you want to protect in the space provided.
  • Click OK to save the information and return to the Configure Privacy dialog. The information will be added to the Privacy Information to Protect list.
    18. How do I configure the product so that it will allow me to access Internet only for a specific time?
  • Double-click the K7 icon in the System Tray to open the K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the Privacy option on the left panel of the console. The Privacy console opens.
  • Click the Configure button and select the Users Profiles tab in the Configure Privacy dialog that opens.
  • Select the user for whom you want to specify the Internet usage timings in the Users Present drop-down and click the Edit button. The User Profiles window opens.
  • Select the Timings tab and select the option The user can use the Internet at the following times.
  • To add timing, click Add below the Timing Information panel. The Internet Usage window opens.
  • Select the days of the week you want to access the Internet.
  • Enter or use the controls to set the Start Time and Stop Time for the Internet Usage.
  • Click OK to add the time duration.
    19. How can I Turn off /on my K7 TotalSecurity?
       To Turn Off:
  • Right Click the K7 icon in the system tray.
  • Click on the option Disable TotalSecurity, specify the time limit to enable the Protection back and click Yes in the confirm window.
      To Turn On:
  • Right Click the K7 icon in the system tray.
  • Click on the option Enable K7 TotalSecurity.
    20. How can I take a Back up of all the configuration settings I have made?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the Home option in the left panel of the console and then click the General tab.
  • Click the Backup Existing Settings option. The Select or Enter the File Name to Backup dialog opens.
  • Locate the folder in which you want to save the file and then enter a name for the file. The settings are saved to a .dat file.
    21. How can I restore the settings from the back up?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the Home option in the left panel of the console and then click the General tab.
  • Click the Restore from Backup option.
  • Locate the file (.dat) that has the required settings and click Open.
    22. How can I exclude a file from being scanned?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • In the Sentry tab, click the Manage Exclusions option. The Exclude List window opens.
  • Click Add File to exclude it from being scanned.
  • Select the relevant scanner options and Click OK.
  • Click OK to save the exclusion settings.
    23. How can I keep a track of all the scans that are done?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the Reports option on the top panel of the console. The Log Viewer window opens.
  • Select K7AntiVirus in the left pane. The K7AntiVirus Report appears in the right pane.
  • Click the [+] icon to expand the K7AntiVirus module.
  • Select Scan Summary, which will display the list of scans done.
  • Click Save option in the top panel, give a suitable name and select the appropriate location to save that file.
    24. I want to block the whole Internet access, how can I do it?
  • Double-click the K7 icon in the System Tray to open the K7TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the Privacy option on the left panel of the console. The Privacy console opens.
  • Click the Configure button and select the Users Profiles tab in the Configure Privacy window that opens.
  • Select the user for whom you want to specify the Internet usage timings in the Users Present drop-down and click the Edit button. The User Profiles window opens.
  • Select the Timings tab, select the option The user cannot access the Internet anytime and click Save.
  • Click Close to close the Configure Privacy window.
    25. How can I create a rescue disk?
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity main console.
  • Click the AntiVirus option on the left panel of the console. The AntiVirus console opens.
  • Click the Create Rescue Diskette option in the Tools panel. The K7Rescue Disk program opens.
  • Insert a disk into your floppy drive and click Start. The K7Rescue Disk program creates the rescue disk.
  • When the rescue disk is created, click Exit to close the window.
  • After you create a rescue disk, write-protect it.
             Note: Windows XP/Vista/NT do not support booting from a floppy disk.
    26. The status of Real Time Scanner says " Not Loaded " after installing K7 TotalSecurity. How can I proceed further?
       Windows 2000 Users:
       You will encounter this problem if you have not installed Service Pack 4 with Update Rollup 1.

       Windows XP Users:
       Install Service Pack 2 to resolve this issue.
    27. What should I do if K7AVQrnt.exe has been quarantined along with the other infected system files?
  • Copy K7AVQrnt.exe from an uninfected computer and paste this file in C:\Program Files\K7 Computing\K7TSecurity\K7AntiVirus folder.
  • Double click K7AVQrnt.exe file. Quarantine Manager dialog opens.
  • Restore all the quarantined files.
  • Restart the computer in Safe mode and run a scan to clean all the infected files.
   28. I am unable to share resources in network/ I am not able to access network printer after installing K7 TotalSecurity. What          should I do?
       This may happen due to very tight network security settings in Firewall. By lowering the network security level, you will be able to solve these        kinds of issues.
  • Open K7 TotalSecurity Main console.
  • Click Firewall on the Left panel of the console.
  • Click Configure on the right panel of the console. The Configure Firewall dialog opens.
  • Click Profiles and select Local LAN Profile from the drop-down menu.
  • Choose Low under Network Security Level and click Apply.
    29. What can I do, if I get the message, " Error 1925. You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation for all users           of the machines log on as administrator and then retry this installation" ?
  • You will receive this error when you try to install K7 TotalSecurity as a Non-administrator user. Use administrator login to install the product.
    30. I receive the error " 1155: file INSTMSIW.EXE not found" when I try to install K7 TotalSecurity. What should I do?
       Please visit http://k7computing.com/download_k7_ts_final.asp and click Windows2000/XP link to download instmsiW.exe. Save the file onto        your preferred location and execute the file to resolve the issue
   31. I receive the error “ 1155: file INSTMSIA.EXE not found” when I try to install K7 TotalSecurity. What should I do?

  • Click Start > Run.
  • Type "Services.msc" and click OK.Services window will open.

  •       There are six K7 services…

    6. K7TotalSecurity Manager
  • Right click on the service and select the action you want to perform.
  • Actions that can be performed are Start / Stop / Pause / Resume / Restart.

    1. How can I extract Explorer.exe?
       Windows 98/ME Users:
  • Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode.
  • Go to c:\windows.
  • Rename explorer.exe to Explorer.old.
  • Type the command EXTRACT /y /A D:\WIN98\WIN98_22.CAB explorer.exe /L C:\windows.
       Note: Cab folders are present in Windows 98 CD. D is the drive letter assigned to CD-ROM.
  • Restart the system.
    2. What should I do to enable System Restore?
       Windows ME Users:
  • Click Start >Settings > Control Panel.
  • Double-click the System icon and then click the Performance tab.
  • Click File System, and then click the Troubleshooting tab.
  • Uncheck Disable System Restore.
  • Click OK then click Yes when you are prompted to restart Windows.
       Windows XP Users:
  • Click Start.
  • Right-click My Computer and then click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Uncheck "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives."
  • Click Apply and then click OK.
    3. How can I disable System Restore?
       Windows ME Users:
  • Click Start >Settings > Control Panel.
  • Double-click the System icon.
  • In System Properties, click the Performance tab, and then click File System.
  • Click the Troubleshooting tab and then check Disable System Restore.
  • Click OK then click Yes when you are prompted to restart Windows.
       Windows XP Users:
       You must be logged on as an Administrator to do the following. If you are not logged on as an Administrator, the System Restore tab will not be        displayed. Turning off System Restore clears out all previous restore points. These instructions also assume that you are using the default        Windows XP Start Menu and not the Classic Start menu. To enable the default menu, right-click Start > Properties > Start menu (not Classic) and        then click OK.
  • Click Start.
  • Right-click My Computer and then click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Select "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives".
  • Click Apply > Yes > OK.
    4. How can I revert to an earlier Restore point via Command prompt?
       Windows XP Users:
  • Restart your computer or turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Select the "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" option and press Enter
  • Log on to the computer with an administrator account.
  • Type the following at the command prompt and press Enter: %System Root%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
    (Note: %System Root% is the root folder, which is usually C:\. It is also where the operating system is located.)
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to restore your computer to an earlier time.
    5. How to open the Registry in my computer?
  • Click Start > Run.
  • Type regedit in the open field and Click OK. The Registry Editor window opens.
    6. How do I clean an infected Explorer.exe?
       Windows 98 Users:
  • Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode.
  • Rename Explorer.exe as explorer. old.
  • Extract Explorer.exe from original .cab folder.
  • Restart the system in safe mode and run Full System scan.
       Windows 2000/XP Users:       
  • Restart the computer in Safe mode with Command Prompt.
  • Go to C:\Program Files\K7 Computing\K7TSecurity\K7AntiVirus
  • Run K7Avscan.exe (Type the drive letter which has to be scanned)
    7. How to restart the computer in Safe Mode?
       Windows 95 users:
       To get into Windows 95 safe mode, as the computer is booting, when you either hear a beep or when you see the message "Starting
       Windows 95", press your F8 key on the top of your keyboard. If done properly you should get into the Windows 95 Startup menu similar to the
       below screen. In this menu choose option 3 by pressing the 3 key and press enter.
      

       Windows 98 Users / ME:
       To get into Windows 98 / ME safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 key" on the top of your keyboard or press and hold the        left or right Ctrl key as the computer is booting.If done properly you should get into the "Windows 98 / ME Startup Menu" similar to the below screen        example. In this menu choose option 3 by pressing the 3 key and press enter.
       Note: With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of        pressing and holding the "F8 key", tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.
      

       Windows 2000/ Windows XP users:
       To get into the Windows 2000 / XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows        Advanced Options Menu" as shown below.Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.
       Note: With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of        pressing and holding the "F8 key", tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.
      

       Windows NT (VGA mode):
  1. Click Start>Settings>Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the System icon.
  3. Click the Startup/Shutdown tab.
  4. Set the Show List field to 10 seconds and click OK to save this change.
  5. Shut down and restart your computer.
  6. Select VGA mode from the startup menu.
       Windows Server 2003 Users:
  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Press F8 after Windows starts up. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting again and then pressing F8 several times after restarting.
  3. On the Windows Advanced Option menu, use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode, and then press Enter.
       Windows Vista Users:
       To get into the Windows Vista Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows        Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.
